Colorado Avalanche Eye The Playoffs

The Colorado Avalanche has quickly come together under first year coach Patrick Roy. Colorado has talented group of forwards, a young core reminiscent of the glory days. The forwards include Captain Gabe Landeskog, Matt Duchene, Nathan Mac Kinnon and Paul Stastny. They have plenty of fire and consistency in the net with Semyon Varlamov and Jean Sebastain Giguere manning the position. The Avalanche will try to continue their scoring binge and move closer to the top of the Central Division.

Sunday is a great example of a team win. A 6 -3 victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning,. Which included 4 goals by defenseman. Nick Holden and Tyson Barrie. Defenseman Tyson Barrie scored Sunday, giving the Avalanche 33 goals from their blue liners this season after they tallied five goals in 48 games in 2012-1The Avalanche have a tough schedule the rest of the way that includes the Chicago Blackhawks, Detroit Red Wings and St. Louis Blues.

This Colorado team has scored four or more goals in four straight games, the past three since the Olympic break. They have totaled 19 in that stretch. Avalanche rookie Nathan MacKinnon is riding an 11-game point streak (five goals, 11 assists). The Avalanche will look to build on those numbers the rest of the season.
